Why Subscribe to a "Podcast"?

First, you are always welcome to listen to streaming audio versions of the podcasts on our website, such as each days' Bible readings, while you are sitting in front of your computer. However, some people prefer the flexibility to instead listen to podcasts "on the go" with a portable music player, such as an iPod. For them, "subscribing to a podcast" is important because it is the process by which they enable each days' Bible readings (and other Internet audio broadcasts) to be automatically downloaded onto their computer so that their iPod's (or similar) special software has all of the information it needs to correctly transfer it to their portable music player for later listening "on the go". Subscribing also ensures that whenever a new episode of an Internet broadcast that they subscribed to is published (e.g., each days' Bible reading), said broadcast will automatically be downloaded & made available to their computer for transfer to their iPod.

What Do I Need to Subscribe?

To enable episodes of Internet audio broadcasts (e.g., each days' Bible readings) to be automatically downloaded to your computer for later listening on either your computer or an iPod-type portable music player, you must download and install the free iTunes software (version 4.9 or greater) from Apple Inc. This software is free and available for both Macs & PCs. Just select your computer type when prompted.

The Orthodox Word Podcast can be found in the iTunes Music Store under the Podcasts genre in the "Religion & Spirituality, Christianity" category.
