Prayers
in Time of Trouble
0 God, our help and assistance
Who is just and merciful, and Who hears the supplications of Your
people, look down upon me a miserable sinner. Have mercy upon me
and deliver me from the trouble that besets me, for which I know
I am deservedly suffering. I acknowledge and believe, 0 Lord, that
all trials of this life are given by You for our chastisement when
we drift away from You and disobey Your commandments. Deal not with
me after my sins, but according to Your bountiful mercies, for I
am the work of Your hands and You know my weakness.
Grant me, I beseech You,
Your divine helping grace, and endow me with patience and strength
to endure my tribulations with complete submission to Your Will.
You know my misery and suffering and to You, my only hope and refuge,
I flee for relief and comfort. Trusting in Your infinite love and
compassion, I know that in due time, when You know best, You will
deliver me from this trouble and turn my distress into comfort.
I shall rejoice in Your mercy and exalt and praise Your Holy Name,
of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, forever. Amen.

A
Prayer for Guidance and Peace
In all humility we pray
to You and we entreat You, Who are the source of wisdom, bless and
grant perfect health of mind and body unto our President and all
leaders of our nation. Direct, 0 Lord, their thoughts to the way
of truth, so that they may enact, order and enforce whatsoever things
are true, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are just,
tending toward all xcellence and virtue. Enlighten them to govern
our country with justice and to lead our people in the ways of Your
righteousness. Send to us and to the whole world a just and lasting
peace to the glory of Your holy name. Amen.

A
Prayer to the Theotokos
Make us worthy of compassion,
0 Theotokos, Who are a source of tenderness. Look upon a sinful
people and manifest Your power as ever. For, hoping on You, we cry
out aloud to You as Gabriel once did: Hail, chief among the bodiless
powers; hail, You Who are full of Grace; hail, unwedded bride. Amen.

Prayers
for the Departed
Remember, 0 Lord, all
who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection and of eternal
life, our fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters, Orthodox Christians
who rest both here and in all other parts of the earth. Place them
with Your saints, where the light of Your countenance shines, and
have mercy upon us, for You are gracious and love all mankind.
Grant, 0 Lord, to all
that have gone before us in faith and hope of the resurrection,
remission of sins and keep them in everlasting memory. Amen.
In the place of Your
rest, 0 Lord, where all Your saints repose, give rest to the souls
of Your servants, for You alone are immortal.
0 Virgin, alone pure
and immaculate that in maiden-motherhood brought forth God, intercede
for the salvation of the souls of your servants.
With the saints give
rest, 0 Christ, to the souls of Your servants (names), where there
is not pain, sorrow or signing, but Life everlasting. Amen.

A
Prayer to Your Guardian Angel
0 Angel of Christ, holy
guardian and protector of my soul and body, forgive me every transgression
which I have committed this day and deliver me from every craft
of my enemy and adversary. May I not anger my God by any sin. Pray
for me to the Lord, His sinful and unworthy servant, that He may
make me worthy of the grace of the All-Holy Trinity, and of the
Most Blessed Theotokos, and of all the Saints. Amen.

Prayers
for the Church
O Lord Jesus Christ our
God, be mindful of Your Holy, Orthodox, Catholic, and Apostolic
Church which You have purchased with Your precious Blood; confirm
it and strengthen it, increase and multiply it, keep it in peace
and preserve it unconquered by the gates of hell forever. Heal the
discord of the churches, speedily undo and root out the growth of
heresies, and bring them to nothing by the power of Your Holy Spirit.
Save, O Lord, and have
mercy on our holy father Bishop Nicholas, together with the most
holy patriarchs, the metropolitans and archbishops, our Archbishop
Demetrios, and all the bishops and clergy whom You have appointed
to shepherd Your rational flock, and by their prayers have mercy
on me, a sinner.
Save, O Lord and have
mercy on my priest, Father [Name], and by his prayers forgive us
our transgressions both voluntary and involuntary. O Lord Jesus
Christ, enkindle the hearts of all Your priests with the fire of
zealous love for You, that they may ever seek Your glory; Give them
strength that they may labor unceasingly in Your earthly vineyard
for the salvation of our souls and the glory of Your all-honorable
and majestic Name: of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
Save, O Lord, and have
mercy on all our brothers and sisters who serve this Holy Church-the
Parish Council, the Philoptochos Society, the choir, the teachers,
the custodian and the secretary, the faithful volunteers, and on
all who work for our parish, and all Christians.
Save, O Lord, and have
mercy on all our fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters, who
live with patient faith in the monasteries of the Holy Mountain,
Greece, Russia, America, and any other place; and on all those who
in virginity, reverence, and fasting live in deserts and caves,
mountains and islands of the sea, and in every place of Your dominion,
serving You piously in prayer. Grant them strength and resolution
in their struggles, and grant us remission of sins through their
prayers.
Prayer
for Future Priests and Leaders
Christ our God, the source
of wisdom and Bridegroom of the Church, You called the Apostles
to follow You and to become fishers of men, giving them authority
to cast out unclean spirits and to heal every disease and infirmity.
You commissioned them to make disciples of all nations and to feed
Your sheep. On the day of Pentecost, You sent the Holy Spirit to
fortify them, enabling them to fill people's lives with Your saving
love.
Continue to act today,
loving Saviour, for the good of Your Holy Church. Send Your Holy
Spirit upon dedicated men and women; inspire them to study for Christian
service and ministry, for building up the body of Christ and for
safeguarding Your precious Bride. By the power of Your Holy Cross,
strengthen all who are preparing to serve Your Holy Church in humility
and love.
For You are a loving
and merciful God, and to You we give glory, together with Your eternal
Father and Your all-holy, good, and life-giving Spirit, now and
ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Prayers
for Days of the Week
Monday:
We the unworthy, ever beseech you, Supreme Commanders of the heavenly
hosts: shelter us, through your prayers, with the protective wings
of your glory. Keep us who fall down with fervor and cry: deliver
us from misfortunes, for you command the powers on high.
Tuesday:
The just man is remembered with praises. But for you, O Forerunner,
the testimony of the Lord is sufficient. You truly showed yourself
more honorable than the prophets, for you were made worthy to baptize
in the streams the One Whom you proclaimed. Having gladly suffered
for the truth, you proclaimed to those in Hades the true God Who
has revealed Himself in the flesh, taken away the sin of the world,
and given us great mercy.
Wednesday
and Friday: Save, O Lord, Your people and bless Your inheritance.
Grant victories to Orthodox Christians over the adversaries. By
the power of Your Cross, preserve Your habitation.
Thursday:
O holy Apostles, pray to our merciful God, that He grant remission
of sins to our souls.
Saturday:
We beseech you, apostles, martyrs, and prophets, hierarchs, venerable
and righteous ones, who have fought the good fight and kept the
faith: having boldness before the Savior, pray to Him Who is good
for the salvation of our souls.
Sunday:
The prayer for the day is one of the Resurrectional Dismissal Hymns,
which can be found in rotation week by week in your Sunday bulletin.
