OCTOBER AND MARCH ARE ‘YOUTH MONTHS’ AT HOLY TRINITY

During these months we put special focus on our youth, especially giving them opportunities to serve the parish in these ways:

  1. Older students have an opportunity to read the Epistle each Sunday

  2. The Sunday school classes take turns serving as greeters, cleaning the candle stands and taking the collection

  3. Sunday school students, with their families, either put on a coffee hour or do a charity activity during youth month

OCTOBER 2018 YOUTH MONTH SCHEDULE FOR CLASSES TO SERVE

Note: The service mainly is after Communion: snuffing candles and cleaning the sand, cleaning the icons and taking the collection.  I suggest snuffing the candles immediately after they receive Holy Communion, then go to class for a lesson during the remainder of Liturgy and sermon.  Ask a council member to come tell you when Father seems about halfway through the sermon so you can bring the kids back to take the collection.  After taking the collection while the parish receives the antidoran (bread) they can clean the sand and clean the icons.

If older students want to be in the Narthex “on duty” to help snuff any candles during Liturgy, they need to wait in the back pew by the parish council  and only go to the candles when asked by a council member.

Greeting and handing out bulletins: If parents would like to bring their children around 9:45 to greet people and hand out bulletins, that would be wonderful, but the teacher does not have to be there early to supervise this (unless you are able and want to do so)
